Based in Dallas, Texas, Kerene Rivera is a contemporary American painter. She has studied with internationally-known painters and illustrators, completing art and fashion design programs in Phoenix, Dallas and Paris. She previously managed the Beaudry Gallery in the Dallas Design District, arranging solo shows for renowned artists such as Peter Max. In 2019, Kerene had her first solo exhibition at Four Ten Gallery in Dallas’s Bishop Arts District.
To Kerene, there is a fine line between the void of color and the placement of dimension—a spirit in darkness knowing light exists, and wanting to experience it. The act of painting leads the void of her canvas into another realm by transforming the beauty of its empty stillness. In Kerene’s words,
"Art is a window to the soul. It is an inferential journey to understanding spirituality."
As she moves her brush, creatively exploring different concepts of existential life, Kerene faces a crucial decision: Is light more prolific than darkness? Each canvas emanates a distinctive style resulting from the dynamics of her decision.
Duality, the power of transformation, and family are always at the forefront of Kerene’s motivations. She embraces the marriage of opposites: calm with chaos, warm with cool, movement with stillness, dark with light, emotions with serenity. She communicates the mysteries of life through her paintings, melding chaos and composition into organic forms.
"In painting these dualities, I find a balance of yin and yang. It’s a kind of dance. Yin and yang are my points of perception as both artist and observer."
